Welcome to our lab site

Psychological trauma is a major public health concern associated with profound psychological, physical, interpersonal, and functional consequences. Our lab investigates the effects of interpersonal and chronic traumatic experiences, including childhood abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and other forms of victimization.

Our research focuses on the psychological and interpersonal processes underlying trauma adaptation, with particular emphasis on dissociation, trauma-related appraisals, self-perception, and interpersonal victim-perpetrator dynamics. A central focus of our work involves identification with the aggressor (IWA) and survivors’ doubt regarding abuse-related appraisals (DARA), as well as their implications for psychopathology, revictimization, and post-traumatic adaptation.

We examine how these processes contribute to outcomes such as PTSD, complex PTSD, depression, suicidality, self-harm, somatic symptoms, chronic pain, revictimization, and interpersonal difficulties.

Using interdisciplinary perspectives, advanced research methodologies, and rigorous statistical approaches, our goal is to advance scientific and clinical understanding of complex trauma and support the development of evidence-based interventions.
